The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) is a broad alliance bringing together various civil society actors committed to the fight for food sovereignty and agroecology in Africa. It includes African farmers' organizations, networks of African NGOs, specialized African NGOs, consumer movements in Africa, international organizations that support AFSA's position, and individuals. Its members represent small-scale farmers, pastoralists, hunter-gatherers, indigenous peoples, religious institutions, and environmental advocates from across Africa. It is a network of networks that currently has 50 active members.
Mission
The main objective of AFSA is to influence policies and promote African solutions for food sovereignty. AFSA serves as a continental platform for consolidating food sovereignty issues and allows for a strong, unified voice on these issues and the presentation of clear and achievable solutions.
