Presentation

As the African partner of the German NGO SICHERHEIT NEU DENKEN (SND), the Rethinking Security in Africa Network is a non-political, non-profit, interregional African non-governmental organization. It aims to promote innovative and sustainable solutions offered by the socio-political paradigm of active non-violence to strengthen security in Africa.

We work to raise awareness, mobilize, and build the capacity of communities and governments, while contributing to strengthening peace, security, and social cohesion.

Mission

Our mission is to promote and, above all, to rethink security and peace in Africa in line with and respecting the objectives of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA).

The RRAS plays a crucial role in the search for innovative and sustainable solutions to address the security challenges facing the African continent. Through our exchanges and collaborations, we have developed a better understanding of security issues and are working to implement concrete initiatives to resolve them.

Participation in WSF 2026

Our vision:
8 scenarios that drive our action plan:

The following themes have been selected for our strategic scenarios:

1. Security through our cultural and traditional values;

2. National and international borders and boundaries as sources of conflict (management);

3. Good governance and natural resource management;

4. Women's leadership and conflict resolution towards sustainable development;

5. Restorative justice as a bridge to living together and development;

6. Encouraging leaders to teach active non-violence from kindergarten to university, including secondary school, to build lasting peace and harmonious, inclusive development;

7. Intra- and intergenerational dialogue for the prevention of intergenerational conflicts;

8. Civil security as a means of conflict prevention and resolution.
RRAS: a new vision for conflict resolution in Africa.
