Presentation
The Research and Action Group for Well-being in Benin (GRABE-BENIN NGO) is a civil society organization created in 1996 and officially recognized in 2001, committed to promoting sustainable development and the well-being of indigenous and local communities. Its work focuses primarily on environmental protection, the promotion of agroecology, women's empowerment, youth education, and the valuing of indigenous knowledge and practices. Through a participatory approach (community dialogues), it supports indigenous and local communities, particularly rural women and youth, in implementing initiatives that foster resilience in the face of environmental, socio-economic, and professional challenges.
The activities of GRABE-BENIN NGO translate into concrete actions such as the production of native plants and reforestation, the protection of forests and sacred sites, the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, literacy and eco-citizenship training, and the development of income-generating activities for women through community savings and credit associations. Among its flagship projects are the establishment of the GRAINE FUTURE Shared Knowledge Center, reforestation and biodiversity conservation programs, initiatives such as "Women, Seeds and Agroecology," fostering a culture of accountability in learning environments, and raising awareness among young people about environmental protection and civic values. Through these interventions, the NGO actively contributes to building more autonomous, resilient, and environmentally conscious communities.
