The organization works to combat human trafficking, unsafe migration, gender-based violence, and exploitation through advocacy, awareness campaigns, and community outreach programs. It also supports women through vocational training, mentorship, and economic empowerment initiatives that help improve their livelihoods and reintegrate returned migrants into society. Through partnerships and sensitization programs, the initiative seeks to create safer communities and encourage informed migration decisions among women and youths.

Participación en el FSM 2026
Advocates for Female Migrants Initiative (AFMI) seeks to attend the World Social Forum to strengthen its efforts in promoting safe migration, protecting the rights of female migrants, and combating human trafficking and gender-based exploitation. The Forum provides a unique platform to connect with global civil society organizations, policymakers, researchers, and grassroots movements working toward social justice and human rights.
Through participation, AFMI intends to share the experiences and challenges of female migrants and returnees in Nigeria, learn from international best practices, build strategic partnerships, and contribute to discussions on migration, gender equality, social inclusion, and sustainable development. The knowledge, networks, and collaborations gained will enhance AFMI’s advocacy, capacity-building, and community-based interventions, enabling the organization to deliver greater impact for vulnerable women and girls.
