Presentation
Migreurop is a Euro-African network of associations, activists, and researchers present in 21 countries across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Its objective is to document, analyze, and denounce the consequences of European migration policies on the living conditions and respect for the rights of migrants throughout their journey into exile (obstacles to mobility, border closures, formal and informal detention, various forms of expulsion, as well as the externalization of migration and asylum controls practiced by the European Union and its member states). The Migreurop network thus contributes to the defense of the fundamental rights of exiles (including the right to "leave any country, including one's own") and to promoting freedom of movement and settlement for all.
Mission
The network's work revolves around three objectives:
Documenting:
Migreurop collects and systematizes field information on the living conditions of migrants, their (lack of) access to rights, and the violence they experience throughout their journeys into exile.
The network also documents the development, evolution, and implementation of migration policies in Europe and Africa.
Deciphering:
Migreurop connects this collected information through the collaborative work of its individual and association members, researchers, and activists.
Migreurop produces shared and multidisciplinary analyses of the consequences of migration policies on the lives of exiled people at a regional level and from a historical perspective. The network then formats these analyses through the development of various analytical tools (4-page thematic notes, atlases, observation/mission reports, podcasts, and videos). Denouncing:
Based on these documented analyses, Migreurop denounces European migration policies hostile to exiles by clearly naming the multifaceted and deadly reality of obstacles to mobility, such as the Europe of camps, the war on migrants, and the apartheid of mobility. The network supports and fosters Euro-African civil society organizations and mobilizations: sharing and disseminating tools, conducting capacity-building activities, and raising awareness among the general public.
Participation in WSF 2026
- Organize thematic workshops on freedom of movement (in a context of externalizing European migration policies to the African continent and increasing obstacles to mobility), as well as the racism inherent in migration policies (addressing in particular the criminalization of migration and its supporters, and presenting the work of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal on violations of migrants' rights in the Maghreb). - These activities will be carried out collectively by the various associations and individual members that make up our network, in partnership with other organizations working on the same themes. - Create synergies with other organizations working on migration issues, particularly in the West African region.
