Presentation

TEERRA AFRICA is a Beninese organization committed to ecological transition, environmental education, and the promotion of sustainable development. Founded in 2020, it works to foster the emergence of resilient, inclusive, and self-reliant communities capable of meeting current environmental, climate, and socio-economic challenges.

Through an approach based on solidarity, non-violence, innovation, and citizen participation, TEERRA AFRICA supports communities, youth, entrepreneurs, and local stakeholders in implementing initiatives that promote environmental protection, improved living conditions, and sustainable economic development.

The organization primarily works in the areas of ecological transition, environmental education, sustainable agriculture, green entrepreneurship, ecotourism, citizen mobilization, and ecosystem restoration.

Since its inception, TEERRA AFRICA has developed and implemented several high-impact initiatives for sustainable development.

Among these is the Green Hub Accelerator program, implemented with funding from IYBA SEED and support from the European Union. This program aims to support young green entrepreneurs in creating, strengthening, and expanding innovative solutions that address environmental and socio-economic challenges.
Through technical, strategic, and entrepreneurial support, the Green Hub Accelerator helps strengthen the competitiveness of green businesses and promote their expansion at the national, regional, and international levels.

TEERRA AFRICA also implements the Eco-Volunteer program, a citizen mobilization initiative designed to strengthen the commitment of young people and communities to environmental protection. This
program helps develop skills in environmental leadership,
community action, and sustainable natural resource management.

In the field of environmental education,
the organization has initiated the creation of school environmental clubs
in several schools across Benin. These clubs provide
spaces for learning, raising awareness, and taking action, enabling
students to develop ecological awareness and become agents of
change within their communities.

TEERRA AFRICA also works to restore
ecosystems through the implementation of the Ouédo Micro-Forest project,
in Benin. This initiative aims to contribute to reforestation, biodiversity conservation, improved living conditions, and the fight
against the effects of climate change through the creation of sustainable
green spaces within communities.

As part of the National Tree Day celebrations, the organization conducted the "Tree Fortnight" campaign, a series of activities aimed at promoting civic engagement in environmental preservation. This campaign notably strengthened the capacities of Eco-Volunteers, organized a roundtable discussion on the theme "Trees: A Tool for Civic Action and Improving Living Conditions," and carried out various awareness-raising and community mobilization activities around the protection of natural resources.

TEERRA AFRICA also conducts cleanliness and sanitation campaigns in several localities in Benin. For example, the organization carried out community clean-up activities in the Gbétagbo district of Abomey-Calavi to promote a healthy environment and strengthen citizen participation in improving living conditions.

Through all its interventions, TEERRA AFRICA
actively contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
particularly those related to quality education, decent work, combating climate change, preserving terrestrial ecosystems,
and developing sustainable cities and communities.

Today, TEERRA AFRICA positions itself as a committed player in the
ecological transition in Africa, placing innovation, community action,

and youth empowerment at the heart of its interventions to
build a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future.

Participation in WSF 2026

TEERRA AFRICA's participation in the 2026 World Social Forum aims to contribute to international discussions on environmental and climate issues while showcasing initiatives developed in Benin and across Africa. This forum represents an opportunity for us to share our experiences in ecological transition, sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, and community-based ecotourism. It will also allow us to strengthen our network of partners, identify new opportunities for collaboration, and actively participate in building collective solutions to climate and social challenges.

As an organization based in Benin and other countries, we wish to highlight the actions undertaken by local communities and promote citizen engagement for sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally responsible development.
