Presentation

The World Forum on Theology and Liberation (WFTL) is an international space for convergence that brings together theologians, researchers, and activists engaged in liberation theologies. Founded in 2005 in Porto Alegre, the WFTL meets regularly in conjunction with the World Social Forum to debate, exchange ideas, and publish on themes such as social justice, decoloniality, ecology, gender, and human rights. Open to all religious and spiritual traditions, the Forum opposes all forms of oppression and works for the dignity of all peoples.

Mission

The World Forum on Theology and Liberation (WFTL), since its inception, has aimed to be a space or platform for convergence, encounter, and exchange among theologies, or among theologians, who, throughout the world, are committed to the principle of liberation in their personal, regional, and international contexts. Its identity is manifested in its outputs: exchanges, debates, publications, and spiritual and artistic spaces, all aligned with its thematic areas and principles.

Organize and lead panels, workshops, and celebrations as part of the 12th World Forum on Theology and Liberation (WFTL), held in Cotonou from July 31 to August 8, 2026, in conjunction with the World Social Forum.
