Presentation

Initially,
four young Cameroonians, who had shared a 15-year friendship since their student days, were struck during a pre-professional internship by the precarious conditions in which some rural populations lived. Driven by the desire to make a difference, they decided to take action together. Thus, ADD was born on September 2, 1996. For 30 years, the association has been working alongside public authorities and development partners in the fight against social exclusion and widespread poverty. Its structure is based on a General Assembly of twelve members, a Board of Directors of five members, and a General Secretariat that includes all the technical staff, both paid employees and volunteers. In its pivotal role, the Board of Directors is responsible for evaluating the organization's financial situation. It certifies the management report presented by the executive and formulates operational guidelines aimed at making staff deployment more efficient.

Mission

ADD
works for a just world and has made it its mission to support, in a participatory and sustainable manner, the self-empowerment initiatives of poor and marginalized populations in Central, Southern, and Eastern Cameroon.

Its objectives are to promote initiatives in agricultural and artisanal production, processing, marketing, health, education, and training for rural populations in technical, organizational (community life), and managerial fields; to foster exchanges between farmers and the establishment of documentation centers in rural areas; to promote access to drinking water and basic sanitation; and to contribute to improving gender relations in all development activities. This work is carried out with respect for the diversity of national languages and customs, impartiality and political neutrality, transparency, and a constant pursuit of performance and quality service. ADD's staff comprises 27 employees, including 17 men and 10 women, of whom 19 are permanent staff and 8 are interns. These interns include agronomists, foresters, environmentalists, socio-economists, a hydrologist, trainers, accountants, drivers, and a graphic designer.
