Community Development Advocacy
Foundation - CODAF AKA Rural Community Empowerment Initiative - RUCEi,
is a Nigerian non-governmental organization driving environmental justice,
climate resilience, and natural resource governance. Operating at the vital
intersection of grassroots mobilization and macro-level policy reform, CODAF
empowers frontline communities and bridges the development gap between local
populations and state actors.

CODAF’s operational model anchors on a Just Transition to a Zero Waste Economy
rejecting high-emission, capital-intensive false solutions like waste
incineration projects, instead focuses on deploying low-emission, community-led
infrastructure. CODAF also spearheads an equitable energy sector Just Transition, particularly within
the oil-burdened Niger Delta where we play a pivotal role in exposing
ecological crises and amplifying marginalized voices. By building local
capacity and driving targeted advocacy campaigns, CODAF empowers frontline
populations to demand corporate accountability, comprehensive ecosystem
restoration, and an equitable transition to decentralized, clean energy access
that protects biodiversity and restores environmental balance.

Misión

Our mission is to engage in intervention projects that
build the capacity and empowers rural community people to defend their
collective rights to participating in natural resource governance through a
right-based approach.

Participación en el FSM 2026

The World Social Forum provides a vital global platform for
the Community Development Advocacy Foundation - CODAF to amplify our grassroots
environmental and social justice initiatives. By participating, we will
bring Nigerian grassroots perspectives to the global stage ensuring that the
voices of frontline communities directly shape international policies
around just transitions, climate equity, and resource management. Our participation
will strengthen our capacity to drive systemic, bottom-up change and elevate
our standing as a key national advocate for sustainable, community-centered
development. It will also enable us to build strategic alliances with global
movements, civil society organizations, and international partners who share a
commitment to environmental justice and community empowerment.
