The mainstream Global North push for a "net-zero" and "Just transition" future is driving a violent new wave of corporate resource plunder in the Global South. From lithium and cobalt mega-mines to speculative carbon offset projects, this "green transition" is frequently built on the displacement of indigenous peoples and the destruction of local ecosystems—disproportionately impacting women who sustain communal life. This panel will critically unmask "green extractivism" and "green colonialism." what does an ecofeminist energy transition look like in practice?
