KILIMO EKOLOJIA General Assembly

Organized by Kilimo écolodjia
🌍 Ecological crises, climate justice and just transition

Description

Africa faces a systemic crisis combining food insecurity, soil degradation, biodiversity loss, and the growing impacts of climate change. Dominant agricultural models, based on monoculture and chemical inputs, have exacerbated economic dependence and weakened peasant farming systems. At the same time, Africa's youth, who constitute the demographic majority, face a lack of opportunities in the agricultural sector, leading to rural exodus and precarious living conditions. It is in this context that the KILIMO EKOLOJIA movement was born in Dakar in 2025, aiming to promote peasant agroecology as a sustainable, political, and social alternative. After initial structuring in Francophone Africa, the need for continental expansion is essential to building an inclusive pan-African movement capable of influencing agricultural and climate policies. General objective:
To formalize the continental expansion of the KILIMO EKOLOJIA movement and establish a coordinated network of young African leaders committed to peasant agroecology, food sovereignty, and climate and environmental justice, building on the momentum generated during the Francophone launch in Dakar in June 2025.
