Descrição
As the Putinist regime presents itself as a counterweight to Western hegemony, debates continue over the nature of its imperial project. This session will examine the continuities and ruptures between Soviet internationalism and Putinist imperialism, the neoliberal political and economic structures underpinning the contemporary Russian state, and the implications of these developments for global anti-imperialist struggles. Participants will discuss whether the Putinist project can be regarded as a meaningful ally against other forms of imperialism or whether it ultimately represents a competing imperial formation with its own geopolitical ambitions.
