PEACE
2026 workshop on nonviolent economy will focus on how local
initiatives (enterprises) create value in terms of (i) generating
employment; (ii) redistributing wealth and resources to the
marginalized; (iii) using natural regenerative practices; (iv)
maintaining fair wage; (v) linking the producer with the consumer and
(vi) experimenting with innovative practices; and (vii) building a
greater cooperation among people and businesses. Each emergent
enterprise shares the vision of a common good, and relates to other
enterprises with practices based on cooperation and reciprocity. Through the expansion of intra-trade networks, a more cooperative
(nonviolent) economy influences the mainstream economy. There
are many such examples of larger peace economies in Africa that will
be highlighted in the workshop:
Nhakanomics
from Zimbabwe, Economy of Love from Sekem, Egypt, Communitalism from
Pax Herbals in Nigeria and so forth.
