Descrição

Across the world, indigenous crops and forgotten foods offer sustainable solutions to some of today's greatest challenges. They can improve nutrition and public health, conserve biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, create sustainable livelihoods, and support more equitable and resilient food systems. Yet many of these foods are rapidly disappearing as traditional knowledge declines and young people have limited opportunities to engage with them as viable economic, social and cultural assets.    This side event, organized by the Collective Action on Forgotten Foods (CAFF), places young people at the centre of the solution.   Through inspiring examples, dialogue and collective reflection, participants will explore practical pathways for empowering the next generation to conserve, add value to, commercialize and promote forgotten foods while creating decent jobs, strengthening local economies and advancing food sovereignty.Rather than asking "How do we preserve forgotten foods?", this session asks a more ambitious question: "How can young people transform forgotten foods into the foods of the future?"
