Description
This Conference is focused on raising
awareness on the unchecked spread of carbon colonialism disguised as climate
solutions on the African Continent. It aims to vehemently denounce carbon markets schemes such as REDD,
TFFF and others and highlight the gross implications of allowing planet scaled
geoengineering experiments that do not reduce emissions nor solve the climate
crisis. In the face of rising
environmental challenges, once again the global south’s natural resources are
being presented as tools for climate change mitigation and adaptation
processes. This revived scramble for urgent solutions is leading to new age carbon
colonialism which perpetuates the destructive extractivist systems and
structures which are historically responsible for the climate crisis.
